Based in Lyons, Colorado, Ian Brighton is a versatile multi-instrumentalist with a range spanning jazz, funk, Americana, Bossa Nova, and Samba.  Specializing in woodwinds, keyboards, and Brazilian percussion, Ian has performed with a multitude of groups including DeVotchKa, The Motet, Samba Dende, Ginga, Kutandara, and Blessing Chimanga to name just a few.   

With deep roots in Boulder County,  Ian’s career is shaped by a commitment to community, inclusivity, and mindful performance. Since moving to Lyons in the aftermath of the flood of 2013, Ian has collaborated across genres, from folk and bluegrass, to music from Zimbabwe and Brazil.  His current projects include performing with Michele Castro, Antonio Lopez, and leading his own ensemble, Samba Tonk.
